Notification from Highways England re upcoming A27 works see below
A27 Wilmington to Folkington – Resurfacing
As the Highways England contractor for Kent & Sussex, we would like to inform you of work on the A27 Wilmington to Folkington, East Sussex.
The work to be carried out is resurfacing. We will also be taking this opportunity to replace the studs and road markings. Our scope of works also includes the resurfacing of the existing footpath.
Work is expected to start on Monday 27 March 2017 for 7 nights assuming reasonable weather conditions. This will include weekend working.
The work will take place overnight starting at 8pm until 6am.
When complete, these works will prolong the life of the carriageway, enhance the reflectivity of the road markings and improve road safety.
In order to carry out these works there will be a full closure between the A27 Drusilla’s roundabout and the A27 Lewes Road junction with the A2270 at Polegate.
During the time we are working, a clearly signed diversion route will be in place.
All traffic wishing to travel eastbound on the A27 towards Polegate will be diverted to the A27/A26 Southerham roundabout. At the Southerham roundabout, the traffic will be diverted Northbound on to A26 and keep travel continue to A26/ A22 Little Horsted Roundabout. The traffic at the Little Horsted roundabout will be diverted on to A22 southbound carriageway towards Polegate. Continue to the A22/A27 Cophall roundabout to the 1st exit where diversion end.
All the traffic wishing to travel westbound on the A27 towards Brighton will be diverted to the A27/A22 Cophall Roundabout. At the Cophall Roundabout the traffic will be diverted Northbound onto the A22 and continue to A22/A26 Little Horsted roundabout. The traffic at the Little Horsted roundabout will be diverted onto the A26 Southbound carriageway towards Brighton. Continue to the A26/A27 Southerham Roundabout and diverted traffic take 2nd exit where diversion end.
Every effort has been made to ensure disruption to traffic and residents is kept to a minimum, but there will inevitably be some noise and disruption generated by these works and for that we apologise in advance. Where excessively noisy operations are unavoidable we will endeavour to complete these before 11pm.
Our road workers frequently work in situations which are both unpleasant and dangerous and we would kindly ask that you treat them with the respect you would wish to be treated with while they are working in your area.
