This website is intended as a source of information for the residential and business community of Polegate and for social and business visitors. Polegate is served by a three tier system of local government. Polegate Town Council, which administers the very local services, Wealden District Council and the East Sussex County Council.

Polegate is a small town (population – 8000 updated figs 12,064) within the Wealden District Council area of East Sussex. It is situated 5 miles north from the centre of Eastbourne, on the Sussex Coast, and 4 miles south from the ancient market town of Hailsham and lies at the junction of the busy A22 main Eastbourne to London Road, and the A27 Folkestone to Honiton Trunk Road. By road London is 60 miles to the north directly on the A22 or via Lewes and the new Brighton Bypass (A27) and then north on the A23/M23. By rail an hourly service takes approximately 78 minutes.

Apart from the railway Polegate is easily accessible by bus, as services from Eastbourne to Hailsham, East Grinstead, Uckfield, Heathfield and Tunbridge Wells all pass through.
