Cuckmere buses service reductions due to Coronavirus pandemic
Please see the following statement from Cuckmere Buses re the reduction of services:
We have had to ask all of our volunteer drivers to let us know whether or not they are able to continue driving in the current circumstances. We have also been monitoring the number of passengers using our services, and in most cases, this has dropped very significantly.
To provide more certainty than would be the case as drivers have to withdraw causing random cancellations, we have had to make very difficult decisions about which services to continue operating. This has been done on the basis of demand, isolation and driver availability. We are concentrating our remaining resources onto services running on weekdays and from 22nd March, all weekend services and services over holiday weekends will be withdrawn until further notice.
The situation will be as follows:
26/126 (Sundays) withdrawn
40 Tuesday service withdrawn, Friday service operates normally
42 operates normally (Wednesdays only)
44 Tuesday service withdrawn, Thursday morning service operates with 1 bus from Stud Farm at 0920, then 0927 Glen Close, and 1230 return. 1130 return and afternoon service withdrawn
120 operates only on Tuesdays and Thursday both morning and afternoon. Withdrawn on all other days
195/196 withdrawn between Waldron and Punnetts Town, then operates as a 196 via Herstmonceux. 195 via Bodle Street Green withdrawn
Hailsham Town operates Mondays and Fridays mornings only. All afternoon services withdrawn, also morning services on Wednesdays and Saturdays
All Special Services and private hires have been cancelled for the duration of the pandemic.
Updates will be posted onto our website, Facebook page and Traveline as soon as any further changes are made. East Sussex County Council and local councils are being advised of our plans in order to spread the message as widely as we can.
Our enquiry line will also take messages and provide information.
We are sorry to have to impose these reductions, and hope passengers will understand the difficult circumstances we face.
We look forward to returning to normal services as the national situation improves in future.
