East Sussex County Council have voted on yet further cuts today, which will see the potential closure of Polegate library. The Town Council has responded by immediately submitting the land as an asset of community value, whilst making arrangements with ESCC to negotiate how the Town Council and community may keep the service running. Whilst a disappointing result, the Town Council would like to thank all residents who have been involved in the campaign to save Polegate library and the assistance and co-operation of the Town’s County Councillor Daniel Shing.
Mayor Cllr Ms Angela Snell said “All Town Councillors have worked hard as a team on this both publicly and in the background and I know many will be disappointed with the outcome today. However, the Town Council is now looking at other options and will keep the community informed as soon as any further news is available.”
