LATEST LIBRARY NEWS 8/2/19
Polegate Town Council have been asked a number of questions over the library these being:
- what the issues are with ESCC?
- what the alternative options are?
- what the ways are that the public can comment (both at and prior to special meeting)
We have answered these questions and given a brief update on the progress of the library below.
The issues with ESCC are over sustainability of the site, the conditions of the service level agreement and the potential financial loss that could occur should the site become unavailable in the future. PTC are committed to getting the best value for our residents and so need to look at all options. One of the alternative options is a Community Interest Company (or similar) run with volunteers willing to take on the roles and responsibilities that entails. There have been a number of alternatives considered which will be in the report. A full library report will be available for the public shortly, which gives full details on the options that are being considered regarding the library. A special full council meeting will then be held to decide on the Library. The public can attend this meeting, but it is a meeting held in public not a public meeting (it’s a council meeting where the recommendations of the working group will be considered by full council.) The public are able to give their comments at the start of the meeting. With regards how public can comment, both at the meeting and prior to please follow this link RIGHT TO SPEAK AT MEETINGS
If you would like to volunteer for the library, please complete the relevant forms (library skills and GDPR form ) at the bottom of the page and email across to the Council, or pop into the office and complete the forms.
