We have been informed by Highways England that A-one+, on behalf of Highways England will be carrying out resurfacing to address skid resistant carriageway deficiencies along the A27 between Milton Street and Thornwell Road, Wilmington.
In order to carry out these works as efficiently and as safely as possible, work will be carried out overnight between 8pm and 6am utilising a full east and west bound carriageway closures on Saturday 7 March 2020. The works are weather dependent.
Full closures of the east and west bound carriageways of the A27 between Milton Street and Thornwell Road. Saturday 7 March 2020 8pm to 6am
Diversions: A clearly signed diversion will be in place during the closures utilising local routes, suitable for all types of vehicles when full closures of the carriageway are in place.
Eastbound Diversion: Vehicles travelling eastbound along the A27 will diverted at Southerham Roundabout onto the A26. Follow the A26 to Horsted. At the roundabout take the 3rd exit to join the A22. Continue on the A22 to Polegate where they can re-join the A27 eastbound.
Westbound Diversion: vehicles travelling westbound follow the above diversion in reverse.
Access for emergency vehicles will be provided through the works at all times.
Residents with access only from the A27 will be provided with an escort service from the closures points at Milton Street or Thornwell Road, though there may be a short wait whilst the works area is made safe.
