      Polegate Community Library Update!

*Sign up as a Committee Member, Volunteer, or Fundraiser, and help us reopen this key Polegate resource!*

A Management Committee has been set up, with the help of Polegate Town Council and local people, to reopen the Polegate Library.

We are in the process of setting up a Charity, which will be called Polegate Community Library. The aim of this Charity is: “The provision of a community based public library situated in Polegate, for the benefit of the residents of Polegate, surrounding areas and communities.”

The Committee is a small, passionate group of local residents. We do however, need more volunteers to offer their experience, skills and spare time to make the reopening a reality in the shortest possible time!

*Do you have some spare time each week?*

*Do you enjoy working with the public?*

*Do you enjoy working with other like-minded locals?*

*Would you like to make a one-off or a regular donation to the Charity?*

If the answer to any of the above is "Yes!", please email us at polegatecommunitylibrary@outlook.com and let us know where your interest lies!

For volunteers who want to work in the new library if you will kindly let us know the days and/or hours you feel you can offer, we will collate this information to finalise the days that the library will open.

For volunteers who want to work behind the scenes at the library, there are many jobs which will be allocated as soon as we have finalised the formalities with East Sussex County Council.

If you don’t have the time to work with us but would like to financially support the Charity, we will shortly be setting up a bank account and you will then be able to make either one-off payments or set up Direct Debits/Gift Aid donations.

Membership of the library itself will be free to borrowers, and we will need to register all members to the new library as we will not be able to use ESCC library cards. We will be holding membership signing-up sessions around Polegate nearer to our proposed opening date, and we will be delighted to welcome volunteers to hand out forms to prospective members at one of these sign-up sessions.

If you would like to become a volunteer, have any queries or suggestions that may be useful, please let us know either through our Facebook page, Polegate Community Library, or via email at polegatecommunitylibrary@outlook.com

We will keep you regularly informed of our progress using our Facebook page.
